A DOGGY diet expert is tackling obesity in pets by revealing how she maintains the health of thousands of dogs through her clean eating diet plan.

Ms Marshall, who lives in North Newton, became interested in dog health when she took on her two Labradoodles Rudi, nine and Fletcher, four. She set up natural dog food company Honey’s Real Dog Food in Pewsey around 10 years ago and has now penned a book after customers begged her to reveal her dog diet secrets.

Ms Marshall, 47, said: “There is so much in the media about animals and humans struggling with their weight and with obesity. I realised that we do not see this problem with our dogs that we feed so I did some research and asked some vets to verify my findings and then the book was born.

"It would break my heart if I saw some dogs given a tiny amount of food on a diet and not long after still be hungry. I am thrilled to bits with this book.”

She reveals how feeding a dog a natural diet using meat and vegetables available from any supermarket or butchers shop could tackle the country’s growing dog obesity problem. Up to half of pet dogs in the UK are currently overweight.
