AN APPEAL has been made against a planning refusal by Wiltshire Council. Applicant Larry Baldry applied for permission to set back an existing retaining wall at his property in Manningford abbots to reduce the pedestrian refuge to one metre wide outside his home on Dragon Lane, Manningford Abbots, Pewsey.
Planning officers refused permission on the grounds that “the loss of highway verge would compromise the ability of pedestrians and other non motorised road users to take refuge from passing motor vehicles and would thus be detrimental to the convenience and safety of road users and contrary to the Wiltshire Core Strategy Core Policy 60.”
Mr Baldry has appealed the decision and Wiltshire Council is now taking any written comments on the proposal. Written comments can be made to Planning Inspectorate, Room 3/10b Kite Wing, 2 The Square, Temple Quay House. Bristol BS1 6PN, quoting APP/Y3940/W/17/3185742 and must be received by February 7. Representations can also be emailed to west2@pins.gsi.gov.uk.
