AN ENTREPRENEURIAL craftswomen has realised her dream to open an artisan shop after having a runaway success selling her work online.

Gina Jones opened Flock on the Plain, a wool and arts shop next to Woodborough Garden Centre in Pewsey, where she will continue to dye wool in her own unique style.

She has sold her luxury hand dyed yarn to people from all over the world including China Australia and the USA and now plans to start educational workshops in her Pewsey store.

Mrs Jones, of Market Lavington, said: “There is a heritage element to what I do because I am passionate about keeping woman’s crafts alive. Just because they used to be done by women they have become undervalued but now they are becoming much more fashionable again.

“Some of the people online and from all over the world are doing amazing things and are as young as 22."

With a background in teaching, Gina Jones now hopes to inspire a generation of crafters by encouraging people to try out traditional woman’s crafts such as knitting and looming.

The past Lavington School ICT teacher even plans to incorporate her technical skills into her fashion by using wool that carries an electrical charge to light up fabric and clothing.

She continued: “I’ve always wanted to open a shop, it’s been a dream to stock really cool and interesting wool and fabric.

“I want to bring a very fashionable, Etsy and Instagrammable feel to the shop.”

Flock on the Plain opened on November 15, at Nursery Farm in Pewsey.
