BREWERS in Mildenhall are preparing to compete against the county’s finest brews as their village ale is put to the test at a professional competition.

Using hops grown by Mildenhall’s very own gardening club and brewed at Pewsey's Shed Ales, the village is hopeful that their drink Minal Tap will impress judges and win a top prize.

Ale house Shed Ales is showcasing the beverage at Swindon Beer Fest that takes place from today until Sunday.

Milly Carmichael, of Minal gardening club, said: “I was chair of the gardening club when we first came up with the idea and planted our hops two years ago. Gordon Edwards at Shed Ales in Pewsey has done all the hard work though.”

Praising Shed Ales’ hard work, Ms Carmichael will be heading to the festival on Saturday to taste the finished product.

The village ale is being shown at the festival, which runs until Sunday at the STEAM Museum, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon.
