SPUDS glorious spuds were on display in all shapes and sizes for the sixth edition of the popular Pewsey Potato Day and Seed Fair on Sunday.

More than 150 people descended upon Bouverie Hall from 10.30am-1.30pm to look at around 60 varieties of tuber, along with bulbs, seeds, fruit trees and many other gardening items.

Pewsey Vale Gardening Club secretary Linda Keepence was delighted with how the day turned out and was happy to see such a range of ages getting involved too.

"It was very well attended, a lot of potatoes were sold and the atmosphere was really good," she said.

"What is more it was very encouraging to see some youngsters getting interested about the different seeds and potatoes and asking their parents to let them get involved.

"We want to thank Pennard Plants from Somerset for once again providing some wonderful stock and making all of this possible.

"We are really widening our appeal after six years of running the fair. I know that because we are beginning to attract people from outside of Pewsey, with visitors travelling from Swindon, Andover and Urchfont, among other places which is great."

Mrs Keepence said the group would be holding the fair again next year on a date yet to be decided. Green-fingered enthusiasts paid a £1 admission fee and for that they were given tea or coffee and a slice of cake.
