NEARLY £3,500 was raised from an action packed weekend at Pewsey's Royal Oak pub in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Richard Stawt, of Tinkers Mead, and Frank Day, of Broadfields, teamed up with the landlord and landlady of the village pub to host two days of non-stop activities back in July, attracting over 200 people in the process.

From the fundraiser, which included a beer festival, a balloon race, live music, a tombola, a silent auction, a raffle, a coconut shy, a barbecue and a bouncy castle among other things, a cheque of £3,342 was donated to the charity at the pub last week.

"We were absolutely delighted to raise that much for a wonderful cause. This is the third time we have done this and each year it gets better and better," said Mr Stawt.

"I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this possible, as it was a great success. Everyone had a great time in what was a wonderful community event.

"Barry and Debbie Hussey from the pub did a marvellous job and we are very grateful for staging such a great weekend. I want to thank the many sponsors who helped us too, they were superb.

"We were so happy to give the cheque over to Wiltshire Air Ambulance in person as they are a fantastic charity and they were so appreciative of our efforts. Hopefully we can do more of the same next year."

The gifts from the blind auction were provided by local businesses and included champagne, jewellery, a painting, cosmetics from local companies, a Wadworth weekend for two away and much more.
