A SILENT auction and raffle held in Marlborough in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance has raised £1,200.

It was part of the second High Society Ball at Marlborough Town Hall on Saturday and was attended by many guests, who all enjoyed a wide variety of evening entertainment, including music and dance, along with food from Jackamole with wine and champagne.

The event's lead sponsor was MDA, Moore Design Associates, based in Hughenden Yard, Marlborough, as well as A Very English Affair events company who dressed all the tables, and The Mixed Media Company.

The live orchestra featured vocalist Emily Jeffreys with a Strictly Come Dancing style dance display from the six time UK ballroom dance champions Morgan Hemphill and Richard Still.

Many of the Marlborough high street traders donated prizes towards the silent auction and raffle, including Kim Vine, The White Horse Book Shop and Lighting of Distinction.

Director of the High Society Orchestra Tom Bott said: "The event was a great success, with many guests commenting on the quality and variety of entertainment throughout the evening.

“Others commented on the event's unique approach of old meets new, with traditional orchestra and canapés, waitress served by Jackamole, to the DJ playing classics for people to continue enjoying the evening.

“We are so grateful for all the business in Marlborough, Pewsey and beyond who were able to donate towards such an important charity. We are already looking at holding another similar event in Marlborough with the aim of incorporating as many local businesses as possible to make the event one for the community.”
