THREE foodie friends have chosen a Wiltshire village to launch their pop-up restaurant business.

Former Gazette graphic artist Amanda Pawlak, old friend Jo Howard, who grew up near Devizes, and her partner John Coy have created Jomanjo.

Its first venture will be an evening of good food at East Grafton village hall on November 7.

Miss Pawlak, 34, of Naughton Avenue, Devizes, said: "We all love food and were chatting about doing some kind of business together and a pop up restaurant seemed like a perfect idea."

She and Miss Howard, 34, met when they were teenagers working part-time in Safeways, Devizes and later Miss Howard met her partner Mr Coy, 42, through work in the catering industry.

Now the three of them have thrown themselves into creating a formulae that will bring relaxed dining with great food to villages that do not have restaurants.

Miss Howard said: "We started looking around and East Grafton seemed perfect. The Coronation Hall is very well equipped with a kitchen up to catering standards.

"The village hall committee thought it was a great idea and welcomed us with open arms. They seemed very excited about what we want to do.

"We hope groups of friends will make bookings and have a great time. It will all be very relaxed."

In future the team hope to stage themed evenings and want people who like the pop up restaurant idea to book their services.

Mr Coy said: "We will be serving traditional food but with a bit of a twist. The concept is to bring a city style cooking experience to the countryside so people can enjoy London food on their doorsteps."

The three-course menu, with choices, plus a cheese board costs £30 a head and there is a licensed bar.

Miss Pawlak said: "We are trying to source all of the food as locally as possible and also want to get other local businesses involved by giving them the opportunity to showcase products at our events."

For the first evening Martin And The Magpie florists from Hungerford will be working with Jomanjo. A second evening with a Christmas theme is planned for December 12 in East Grafton.
