A RECRUITMENT day is being held because Savernake Hospital is in need of more nurses.

Nurses from across Wiltshire are being urged to attend the event run by Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust tomorrow, between 2-7pm.

It is open to all registered nurses, whether experienced or newly qualified, interested in working in the Marlborough hospital’s 30-bed Ailesbury Ward.

The ward offers rehabilitation for people who have suffered debilitating conditions such as strokes and offers some end-of-life care.

Adam Kirton, the trust’s head of recruitment and resourcing, said: “We’ve been working to recruit more registered nurses within the community hospitals, which includes Savernake as well as Warminster and Chippenham, so it’s not the case that everybody has left and we’re looking to replace them.

“From the initial response we’ve had we’re quite confident that we’ll be able to fill the positions.”

Attendees can meet the senior nurses and clinicians who work on the ward, tour the hospital and take part in an interview for one of the 10 positions available.

Mr Kirton said: “This recruitment day is a fantastic opportunity for any nurse who is looking to broaden their horizons and work in a hospital that is known for its professionalism and high quality care.

“As one of the top three trusts to work for in the south west, we are able to provide all our staff with excellent opportunities to develop their nursing skills and reach their full potential.

“Newly qualified nurses joining the team at Savernake will also benefit from a fully funded one-year preceptorship programme, which includes full study leave.

"This event is another example of the trust’s commitment to bringing a high quality workforce to all of our hospitals.”

Healthcare assistants are also encouraged to attend as there could be positions available for unregistered nurses.
