A magical wish tree has been created at Woodborough Garden Centre, in aid of the Finlay Foundation.

The family-run garden centre put up a tree for visitors to decorate with stars holding messages and wishes for loved ones.

The tree will be part of the Christmas experience, where children can visit Santa and his animal helpers, until Sunday. Devizes-based mobile farm Dave and Ewe is also there, with animals including rabbits, alpacas, horses and ducks.

Children can stroke, handle and feed the animals before making a wish.

Niki Connor, Finlay’s mother, said: “Finlay used to love visiting the garden centre for an apple juice and a slice of jam sponge cake as a treat, so it has always held special memories.

“Thank you to all the people that support us so well and keep a special place in their hearts for Finlay.”

Six-year-old Finlay Connor was knocked down and killed by a bus on his way to school in 2011.

The wish tree will be on display for the rest of the Christmas season.
