ASPIRATIONS for the future of Pewsey have been set out in a Neighbourhood Development Plan validated by Wiltshire Council.

The parish council decided to write an NDP in reaction to the Localism Act and it sets down objectives for the village for the next 12 years.

It has taken more than three years of hard work by a group, made up of parish councillors and volunteers, to get the plan to this stage.

Chairman of the working party, Peter Deck, said: “We’ve held a lot of consultations and this is what the community wants.

“It’s how people in this village see development until 2026, this is a community led document.”

Its basic premise is that all development in Pewsey should be kept within the Limit of Development that was first drawn up by Kennet District Council and is now contained in the emerging Wiltshire Core Strategy.

Coun Deck said: “I think developers who want to build outside the Limit of Development has concentrated people’s minds a bit and they have got more interested.

“Theoretically, it gives us more protection.”

The plan also includes the economy, environment, transport, heritage and developer contributions.

Wiltshire Council will take the plan to consultation between November 3 and December 17.

It will then be sent to a third party examiner before it goes to a local referendum.
