Marlborough's toast and haggis for Robbie

Mmembers of the Marlborough Conservative Club held a haggis lunch on Burns day and raised about £60 for Help for Heroes.

The club in the High Street had previously raised money for the services charity when it invited members and guests to down a tot of Navy rum in return for a donation on Trafalgar Day.

On Burns day they served up the full traditional celebration meal of haggis with neeps and tatties cooked by Sarah Hicks whose husband David is a member of the club committee.

Mayor Coun Nick Fogg gave the traditional Burns toast before members and guests tucked into their food. Mr Hicks said: “A lot of people supported us and we were pleased to have made about £60.”
