MARLBOROUGH Poverty Action Group (MPAG) has been given a £500 boost thanks to a Town Council Grant.

About 35 local children will benefit from the grant by securing places on the summer Camp Activ8 activity programme run by the town's leisure centre and even go on a trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park.

Town Mayor, councillor Mervyn Hall, handed over a cheque for £500 to Janneke Blockland who represents the charity, that works to improve the lives of the homeless and young people in poverty Marlborough.

The town mayor, a keen supporter of activities for young people, said: “The Town Council is delighted to be able to support the important work this group does in providing opportunities for families to enjoy time together and local children to benefit from the great activities offered by Camp Activ8.”

Janneke Blockland said: “We really appreciate the funding from the Town Council towards this project and along with grant funding from Tesco, the Marlborough Garden Trust, Waitrose and generous personal donations, we are going to be able to make it happen.”
