PILATES group were kidding around this week as they were joined by 40 baby goats during their exercise class.

What started as a joke looking goats running around Pilates instructors on You Tube, has become an event at East Farm.

The Winterbourne Monkton farm has a growing herd of goats and decided to get the kids involved with the movement and balance class.

The South African Boer goats breed is one of the biggest goat breeds, but at moment the herd ranges from three to six weeks old.

Farmer Laura Corbett said: “Of all farm animals goats are the most sociable by far. We have cattle and sheep in the past but they grow up very independent.

"Goats are totally different, they are inquisitive, they are personable and they really look you in the eye and want that human interaction. Goat Pilates is something they enjoy too.

“We have 40 at the moment but our hope is to grow our herd to 120. I hope it will become a yearly event. We knew we had a small window of opportunity when they were small enough to do the goat Pilates."

Pilates instructor Sarah Summers said: “I think everyone had a genuinely brilliant time and it’s hard not to when they are jumping around and jumping on you. It was lovely to see so many smiley faces in the class and although it was harder to focus it was a great deal of fun.

"They are such gentle animals that even when they nibble you it doesn’t hurt at all.”

Classes will continue for the next eight week until the kids have grown into goats.
