SPORTS kits have been paid for by a donation from Waitrose after shoppers voted to support Marlborough Community and Youth Centre.

Councillor Lisa Farrell joined several members of the youth club to thank the supermarket for the £287 donation, which will pay for new sports equipment at the centre that was recently reopened for young people.

Shoppers used their spending power to support the good cause by voting for the youth centre in the Waitrose Community Matters Scheme.

Cllr Farrell said: “We are really grateful to Waitrose and the people who donated their discs to our Community and Youth Centre. The money will be used towards buying sports equipment for young people. Thank you from all of us.”

Cllr Farrell campaigned for the former Youth Centre at St Margaret’s Mead to be re-opened and thanks to grant funding and donations from various businesses and individuals, the Town Council took the building over from Wiltshire Council under a 7 year lease and opened in December 2017.

The facility is already being well used with bookings from Judo classes, Zumba, toddlers groups, Kumon Maths classes, youth football and more.
