VOLUNTEER emergency doctors will be able to save more lives across the county after getting a brand new emergency response car.

SWIFT medics are trained doctors that are often among the first people at the scene of a car crash or serious incident.

The charity has already begun using the new response BMW 5 Series 520d SE Touring car, donated by car dealership Dick Lovett, which has been kitted out with the technology needed to operate as an emergency response car.

Called upon by the ambulance service, SWIFT doctors offer their specialist expertise to make life savings rescues and attend an average of one serious incident across Wiltshire a week.

Chris Taylor, head of business at Dick Lovett, said: "We are very proud to play our part in enabling SWIFT Medics to continue giving out-of-hospital emergency medical care to our local communities."

SWIFT chairman Jonathan Glover said: "Their incredibly generous donations are making a huge difference to how effectively our doctors are able to work at the coalface."

The charity has also been given a £95,000 grant by LIBOR Fund paid for by fines imposed on banks in the wake of the London interbank offered rate banking scandal.
