A GROUP of punters with a dream to reopen their local pub have called on the support of Bedwyn residents to turn it into a reality.
It wasn’t until regulars of The Cross Keys pub lost their local that they realised what a valued community hub it had become.
Now retired policeman Rob Braybrooke and friends have launched a campaign to resurrect the public house.
Under the Bedwyn Pub Company title, the team want to hear from anybody with skills that might help transform the building, from plumbers and builders to interior designers.
He said:“It wasn’t until it was gone that we realised how much we missed it.We have done a full costing and believe that properly run, the pub would be viable.
“Now we want to test the feeling in the village by getting people to register their interest.
“So far we are not seeking investment but we want to see how many people are backing it.”
They hope that with enough local support they will be able to persuade current owners of the building to sell them the pub and open for business.
