FAMILIES have been left distressed and upset after a number of sentimental jewellery items were stolen in a theft being investigated by police.
An 18 carat gold bracelet and a diamond engagement ring were among the items stolen from two homes on the High Street, Burbage and in East Grafton.
The homes were targeted during the theft in which a George Gensell Coppell gold watch and a De beers prestige diamond ring were also taken.
It is believed the items were taken between August 31 and October 1 and officers have appealed for any witnesses with details relating to the crime to come forward.
PC Jayne Wilbey, who has been investigating the incidents, said: “Some of these items have a lot of sentimental value and the owners are understandably really upset and distressed at their loss. They are desperate to have them returned.
“We are keeping an open mind but we believe the two incidents may be linked."
Anyone who may have information regarding these items should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
