VOTING has opened for Marlborough Community and Youth Centre to be in with a chance of getting a £10,000 grant to boost its transformation into a hub for young people in the town.

Aviva Community Fund gives community projects the chance to get funding through its public vote on a range of national schemes.

Marlborough Town Council is urging residents to log on and vote for the community hub, that was saved from closure in June when Wiltshire council stopped funding the building.

The Town Council took over the lease of the building and so far over £21,000 has been poured into a transformation set to be completed in a matter of weeks.

The cash from the voting would buy furniture, kitchen goods, IT, sports kit and more.

Town Mayor, Councillor Mervyn Hall said: "We are now close to re-opening our Community & Youth Centre and we really need those votes to help secure additional funding to equip the building.

"It’s a really exciting project that unlocks a whole range of opportunities, particularly for our young people who will, at last, have somewhere to go again.”

Although users must register to vote, they will then receive 10 votes to cast in support of the project.

Visit https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-6355 to submit a vote before 21 November.
