CONSTRUCTION of 168 new houses in Marlborough has been given planning permission by Wiltshire Council.
Land at the junction of Blenheim Road and Salisbury Road will be used to build the one, two, three, four and five bedrooms homes.
Avril Chadwick, design director of Barton Willmore, who applied for the permission for developer Redrow Homes to build on the site, said: “The new development on Salisbury Road will provide high quality homes that will complement the character of Marlborough.
"This has been achieved by designing a scheme that not only fits with the typography of the land but also reflects the materials and aesthetics of the historic market town.”
Of the 168 homes, 40 per cent will be affordable, and work is due to begin in November.
