A fearless Marlborough women who served in the Royal Air Force has taken part in a skydive in a bid to raise money for the Royal Air Force Association.

Briony Fuller took to the skies despite being told she would never walk again after breaking her spine and neck in 2008. For the second year, Mrs Fuller joined with 75 other women from the RAF to take the 3 and a half mile plunge on July 9.

Mrs Fuller has lived in Marlborough for over 35 years and took the jump from Hinton in Northamptonshire. She said was inspired to take part in the jump to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the RAF Regiment.

Mrs Fuller, from West Overton, Marlborough, said: “The camaraderie was brilliant between us all. We were asking each other what we did in the RAF and someone even forgot their trainers and we just lent them ours. It was exceptional, and a very rare event, just being women.”

Reaching speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, the former air traffic controller for the Tri force recommended the popular stunt to other ambitious people.

Planner and ex-servicewoman Donna Finlay has promised to make next year’s bigger and better, after being overwhelmed by the response when she suggested the death defying event.

Ms Finlay said: “I just put a message out online and suddenly people were asking to be added to the list of participants!

“Next year we will definitely be back with an even bigger event.”

The event raised £51,000 for the Royal Air Force Association.
