Mums from Marlborough are getting on their bikes as they peddle the 1000 mile journey from John O’Groats to Lands’ End for charity.
Kerry Hall, aged 50, Penny Dickinson, aged 54 and Margo George, aged 44 all from Marlborough, decided to raise funds for the John Radcliffe Children’s hospital and contribute to money raised in memory of Bobby Cox, who died of a brain tumour aged just five.
Former Preshute Primary School pupil Bobby died in 2014, and shortly after his death parents Paul and Harriet Cox began fund raising, with funds currently standing at £145,000.
Mrs Hall has already taken part in a charity triathlon and 100 mile bike ride for the good cause.
Their original fundraising goal of £1,000 has already been exceeded and new sights have been set on reaching £5,000 in sponsorship.
“It would be amazing to raise the £5,000 and make their total £150,000, but we have no clue whether that is achievable,” Mrs Hall said.
She added: “We are excited but also nervous about the challenge but more so about having to get up every day and repeating the 100 mile ride.
“I have such a personal connection to the charity that I knew I wanted to do something big.”
Setting off on Sunday, the trio plan to take 10 days to complete the length of the UK.
