THOUSANDS of pounds worth of computer equipment has been donated to the Aldbourne Youth Council charity to give youngsters the chance to learn IT skills.

IT support, training and recycling company Green Machine Computers has donated high specification refurbished desktop computers, monitors, mice and keyboards to the charity’s Community Junction in the heart of Aldbourne.

Reece Martin, an IT apprentice and refurbisher of the Aldbourne equipment at Green Machine, said: “The donated machines came from a large UK corporate company and I am proud that by refurbishing them, we can benefit a charity helping youth in the local community.

“It is amazing to think I can re-engineer equipment where my work benefits other young adults for many years to come.”

Louise Whatley, a youth worker at the charity, said: “I love the business model at Green Machine and we are bowled over to be beneficiaries.

“Helping the community by recycling others’ unwanted equipment is brilliant. The equipment is stunning and the team are so excited to be able to use it.”

The charity was set up in 2005 by local youths to give young people the chance to have more events and facilities put on for them.
