JANET Hartwell, head office manager and PA to senior partner Barry Smith, has recently celebrated her 25th anniversary with the Wiltshire-based optical group, Haine & Smith.

“I can’t believe it’s been 25 years,” says Janet, who joined Haine & Smith in Marlborough in 1992 as a secretary, then just a few years later became head office manager and clerk to the trustees of the Haine & Smth Charitable Trust at Haine & Smith’s head office, now based in Pewsey.

Janet’s journey is the result of hard work and dedication.“We have great team at head office and throughout Haine & Smith,” she said. “I love the variety in my role; every day is completely different. I am very grateful for all the help and support from Haine & Smith and my colleagues over the years.

Janet was born a Dorset girl 55 years ago but has lived in Burbage for 33 years. She is married to local decorator Rob and has two sons, Tom 34 and Edd 32.

Janet loves Burbage and enjoys being part of the community there; she is a churchwarden and committed church member. She enjoys family and village life very much but loves travelling whenever she is able. She has just returned from a visit to Vietnam and Cambodia.

“Working at Haine & Smith in Pewsey with so many friends is great; and only four miles down the road. I am very fortunate”

To mark the occasion and thank Janet for her time at Haine & Smith, partners Barry Smith & Giles Smith presented her with a generous cheque and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Forty years and 19 practices since Sue Haine and Barry Smith first started out, the optical group remains an independent family firm providing personal service, value for money and exceptional standards of professional eyecare.

Carrying out approximately 40,000 eye examinations a year, Haine & Smith has practices in Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster, Westbury, Royal Wootton Bassett and Wroughton.
