SPIDERS have been playing havoc in an Avebury home after they set off its fire alarm on Thursday.
Marlborough firefighters rushed to a property in the High Street at around 8.45am but when they got there they realised it was a false alarm.
A spokesman for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service said that spiders are a common cause of automatic fire alarms going off as are the dust and cobwebs that affect the sensors.
