THE future looks bright for the Circle Nursery in Avebury after it secured an outstanding Ofsted rating.

Inspectors reviewed the High Street nursery last month and gave top marks for the effectiveness of the leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, for personal development, behaviour and welfare and the outcomes for the children.

The rating concludes three years of hard work for owner Allyson Reid and her colleagues, since receiving a good rating last time, but she insists the 15 staff, who look after 45 children aged one to five, will not rest on their laurels.

“Everyone is just delighted to receive this rating and I am so proud of every single person that helped to make this possible – they are the heartbeat of the nursery,” she said.

“We have such a dedicated, hard working and driven team here, so to improve from our previous rating of good in 2014 is very satisfying.

“We are constantly reviewing and adjusting and are always looking to improve and the inspectors picked up on that.

“Now we have raised the bar from last time, we will continue to carry out the good work that we do and make the children’s time here the best we can.”

The report said that children are exceptionally confident, self assured, extremely independent and develop excellent communication skills in preparation for school.

Moreover their safeguarding was excellent, they adapt to meet their needs, children rapidly progressed from when they joined the nursery and they relished playing in the spacious outdoor play areas.

“One thing that we are very proud of is just how much progress that all the children make here,” said Allyson.

“We will carry on doing what we always do and strive to be the best we can. This is a validation of our process and the ethos we have.

We believe in a gentle, relaxed start for our young children, combining child-initiated play and learning in a natural environment with caring, flexible routines.”

The nursery opened in 2010 and is open Monday to Friday from 8am-6pm for 50 weeks of the year.
