A NEW tradition may have just begun at the Marlborough and District Rotary Club after their first ever Burns night celebration on Friday was a hit after they raised nearly £250 for local causes.
Members from the club, along with their German partner rotary club from Mindon, gathered at the Marlborough Golf Club for a hearty meal, complete with Haggis, traditional Scottish dancing and a raffle.
Geoff Oades of the Rotary Club said: "I would not be surprised if this now becomes a popular tradition as it was an extremely successful evening and it was wonderful to have our German guests over too for something a bit different.
"We do have some very enjoyable social events as well as working hard raising money for charity."
On Saturday, the German Rotarians were then treated to a visit to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, followed by watching a rugby match between London Wasps and Exeter Chiefs, before finishing up with dinner at the Ship in Upavon.
