POLICE are calling on people to take extra care after they received several reports of cars being broken into in parking areas at Silbury Hill, Savernake and Manton.

James Robbins, of the Wiltshire East Community Policing Team, said that criminals were targeting these rural areas as they know people leave valuables in their cars when they are walking their dogs or roaming around the countryside.

Sergeant Robbins said: "Please remember not to leave valuables on show in your car or anything a thief might think is valuable.

"If you see anyone acting suspiciously or suspicious vehicles please report it on 999 if it is happening there and then."

Anyone with information which isn't urgent should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
