Tributes have been paid to grandmother Colombine Charnock from Marlborough who died after a crash in a Tesco car park.

Mrs Charnock, 86, was injured in the crash at the supermarket in Everland Road, Hungerford on December 8 and died in hospital the next day.

Now her family have paid tribute to her saying: "Mrs Colombine Charnock (known as Chris), 86, lived in Buttermere and London for 30 years. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother as well as a well-known local figure who will be greatly missed.

"She was a talented gardener and played a large part in the activities of The League of Friends at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London for many years. This included being in charge of the volunteer flower ladies and serving as the Deputy Chairman.

"Another great love was the ballet and she went regularly to the Royal Opera house. She was a wonderful hostess, who loved entertaining and meeting people, and will be missed by her many friends.

"Her family are so grateful for the efficiency, kindness and help of the emergency services, the police, the medics at Swindon Hospital, and the manager of Tesco and his staff. Also the local nurse who was first on the scene and knew Chris. They send their heartfelt thanks to everyone."
