AN early Christmas present was gifted to Prospect Hospice last Friday when the Marlborough mayor handed over a new lifting cushion to the Outreach Centre at Savernake Hospital.

Marlborough town council donated the £2,040 piece of equipment, which helps people with low mobility, to the hospital and Coun Noel Barrett-Morton was there in person to watch a demonstration of how it is used.

"We were delighted to be able to award a grant for this equipment which will clearly be important to those coming here," he said.

"My fellow councillors and I recently toured the centre and were really impressed by what Prospect is achieving here. It is so good to be able to help.”

The lifting cushion can support more than 300kg and sits neatly in a small bag and is designed to help those who have fallen and need help getting back up.

“This new equipment will be a valuable resource and help our patients in a dignified manner," said centre co-ordinator, Zoe O’Reilly, who also has a clinical role which involves direct work with patients, carers and health care professionals.
