FATHER Christmas made his way to a festive Marlborough Town Hall to help celebrate Prospect Hospice's first ever Christmas fair event.

Hundreds of people from all over the county came to support the hospice's Christmas debut on Saturday, where they were greeted by the sounds of Wanborough Handbell ringers, Ukey Dukes and the Pewsey Belles and lots of gifts ideas and foodie delights.

Mike Kennedy, Prospect Hospice's Marlborough community fundraiser, said: "It went really well for our first ever Christmas event in the area. We had a choir and bell ringers all make an appearance and Santa was out and about too and the kids loved it.

"The general community spirit was fantastic. We had a lot of people that support us like volunteers and we reached lots of people from around the county. There were people form Chippenham, from Swindon so people travelled from far and wide to see what we were doing and we are so pleased."

The hospice, which has supported 200 new patients in the area over the last year, received fantastic feedback from guests and Mr Kennedy said they are already thinking about what they can do next.

He said: "We have had lots of great feedback which hopefully will help us lay the foundations for more events in the future and hopefully another Christmas event next year."
