THE river flowing through Marlborough got a festive clean-up when sixth formers from St John's Academy took the plunge in a project with Action for the River Kennet.
A group of 30 St John's Academy sixth form students helped ARK to clear the River Kennet and surrounding areas in the centre of Marlborough of litter last Wednesday.
The students donned wellies, waders and litter pickers to reach rubbish in the river at Cooper's Meadow, The Priory and the Waitrose riverbank by Hillier's Yard car park.
"The students come along as part of their lower sixth Beyond Me sessions, they did a fantastic job enthusiastically working together collecting up the litter and making the river, its banks and the adjoining land much more pleasant. We hope to work with the students again very soon,", said ARK project officer Anna Forbes.
