AN exhibition is set to take place at Marlborough College next month with plans for a new boarding house being on display.

The college is now looking to provide more boarding opportunities for girls and boys and is now looking to submit plans for the new boarding house, which has been named Dancy House, on the land at Elmhurst Triangle.

Peter Bryan, director of corporate resources at Marlborough College, said: “We took the decision to withdraw the previous application for a new boarding house earlier this year to allow us time to take feedback. As a result we are now working with a new project team, which is being led by internationally acclaimed architects Allies and Morrison.”

The original application, which was submitted in April of this year, was withdrawn after a number of comments from Historic England and nearby residents, mainly focusing on the design of the building.

“We want to take this opportunity to consult with the local community so their views can help shape our plans for the new house. As part of this, we are holding two stages of consultation and during the first stage there will be an exhibition on October 6 where people can view and discuss our plans with members of the team,” added Mr Bryan.

Dancy House, as the new building will be known as, will be the sixteenth boarding house for the college and will aim to increase the number of live-in pupils to 990.

The exhibition is taking place on October 6 from 3pm-8pm at The Marlburian Centre at Marlborough College. All of the comments entered to the planning application will be considered before anything is finalised.
