HUGHENDEN Yard in Marlborough welcomed the vocal talents of the Izzy Bizu after she made an appearance at Sound Knowledge.

The 21-year-old singer from South West London arrived in Marlborough on Tuesday (September 6) evening to give a performance at the shop with a couple of hundred people turning out to watch her.

Sam Robinson, 25, assistant manager at Sound Knowledge, said: “It was a good vibe, we had quite a few people come out to watch her, I didn’t do a head count but I am guessing about a couple hundred. She is a very pleasant young woman, there are already comparisons between her and Amy Winehouse.”

As well as performing tracks off her recently released album, A Moment of Madness, which hit shops on Friday, Miss Bizu also took the time to meet fans and sign copies of the record.

“She did the signing in the shop so people could have their chance to grab a copy, she is a really charming young lady, the album came out last Friday and the weekly charts come out this Friday so hopefully it will place at number one, she definitely deserves it,” added Mr Robinson.

This wasn’t Miss Bizu’s first trip to the west country as she performed on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2014 and then again in 2015. This year her modernised cover of Edith Piaf’s La Foule was chosen to be the theme for the BBC’s Euro 2016 coverage.

Sound Knowledge will also set the stage once again tonight (Thursday September 8) when Ward Thomas, a breakthrough country music duo made up Hampshire twins Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas, will be performing for the crowd.

“We have been doing this for quite a few years, we host about 25 performances a year. Ward Thomas should be very good, they may even make it to number one this week,” added Mr Robinson.
