INVESTIGATIONS are underway into a spate of burglaries in the Savernake Forest area of Marlborough over the past week where over £2,000 worth of equipment was stolen.

Overnight between Thursday (August 25) and Friday (August 26) the burglars climbed over some temporary fencing to gain access to a stable block as well as cutting a padlock from the door, in this instance nothing was taken. On the same night a garage was broken into and a Hayter petrol lawn mower worth £1,000, a Husquavana chainsaw worth £250, a Stihl hedge trimmer worth £250 and a Stihl lead blower worth £200 were all stolen.

Another garage nearby was broken into and another Husquavana chainsaw worth £500 was stolen from inside.

Sergeant Christian Wells, of Marlborough Police, said: “The investigation is on-going regarding these offences with Police following all possible lines of enquiry including forensic recovery and examination of items seized from the scene. If anyone has any information or witnessed the crimes they are to call Wiltshire Police on 101, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
