AN oak tree damaged by lightning has caused extensive damage to St Katharine's Primary School, in Savernake Forest.
The tree is thought to have been struck by lightning on Saturday during the storms that hit Marlborough and other parts of Wiltshire.
A limb of the tree fell on the playground and electricity lines, completely destroying the school’s play area and benches.
Phone and internet connections are down as well as the fire alarms.
Update to follow.
