Jazz fans from all corners of the world flocked to the Marlborough International Jazz Festival to listen to the blues.

More than 10,000 people decended on the Wiltshire town over the weekend which has been hosting the festival for 30 years.

Organiser and councillor Nicholas Fogg said: "It was brilliant. There were some fantastic acts on offer and collectively.

"There was about 10,000 people this year and we had people come locally from Marlborough and from Marlborough 12,000 miles away in New Zealand! We also had people from Toronto in Canada and from all over the place.

"We worked out from our data base that in the last three years we have hosted people from 66 counties in Britain and a few in Ireland."

With hundreds of artists and bands on offer both big and small, the ever gathering crowds were spoilt for choice.

"There were a number of highlights for me including watching Lil Jimmy Reed who we brought over from Alabama especially for this festival," Cllr Fogg said.

"Clare Teal was also absolutely magic and another little highlight was that we had the world's best youth band from Utah."

Although Wiltshire Council refused to grant the festival road closures this year, the event ran smoothly without trouble.

Cllr Fogg added: "We never have any problems. The police reckon it is the most incident free event of the year and when I asked why they said it was because everyone is so happy."
