PUPILS at Pewsey Vale School learned about how to plan their lives and careers when speaker Floyd Woodrow spent an entire day with students and staff recently.

Floyd served in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) for many years, working in numerous operational areas globally and was awarded the UK’s second-highest award for gallantry, the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his services in Iraq and an MBE for his work in Afghanistan.

Since leaving the military, Floyd has worked within many corporate businesses and honed his negotiation skills, dealing with business mergers as well as numerous hostage rescues before beginning a career as a motivational lecturer.

Floyd spent the morning at the school, working with small groups of students, as he encouraged them to look at their life journey and what they want to achieve when they join the working world in the future. Floyd then talked during a whole school assembly before answering some very well thought out questions during a Q&A session in the afternoon with students and then finishing off by presenting to the staff during their weekly meeting.

The students and staff could not help but be inspired by Floyd’s life experiences as well as his support and guidance, and thanked him for generously offering a whole day to be with the school.
