AFTER A successful bid, Kennet Valley C of E Primary in Lockeridge has received some new iPads to help in the pupils' school research.

The addition of the new technology to the school is giving pupils the opportunity to have access to ICT in classes as well as the computers in the library, helping to further their education. The school applied to Salisbury Diocese at the beginning of the year and found out in March the bid was successful.

Sarah-Jane Chalker, head of ICT at Kennet Valley Primary, said: “It’s essential that we successfully deliver the computing curriculum and these tablets will help us do that as well as presenting some exciting opportunities for teaching and learning in and around school.”

The new iPads, as well as contributing to the computing curriculum, will also help the teaching and learning across all subjects at the school. The bid itself paid for 25 of the new tablets plus two storage units and the servers to run them. The Friends of Kennet Valley furthered the addition to the resources by paying for five more.

Paul Taylor, parent governor at the school with responsibility for ICT, said: “Our ICT working group has set out a three year plan to transform the use of ICT to support the delivery of the curriculum, enhance teaching and enrich the pupils’ independent learning.

“To date we have improved the underpinning infrastructure at the school, introduced a really popular Code Club and we now have sufficient student devices to fully realise the potential of our pupils.”
