IN SUPPORT of a charity which helps servicemen with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other injuries, the captain of the Marlborough Golf Club presented one of the charity ambassadors with a cheque.

Alan Pryor, the captain of the golf club, selected the On Course Foundation (OCF) as the charity to benefit from fundraising during his year of captaincy. On April 1, Brian Rollinson, an ambassador for OCF, was in Marlborough to accept the cheque for £3,533.41.

The money was raised throughout the year through raffles, a race night, a skittles evening and golf competitions.

Mr Rollinson, 52, of Waiblingen Way, Devizes, said: “I’d like to give a big thank you to Marlborough Golf Club- to Alan and all the members. Marlborough Golf Club has done a fantastic job in fundraising and holding events that help a lot of people.”

The On Course Foundation supports the recovery of wounded, injured and sick service men and women and veterans through golf. The Foundation’s members who are helped by the Foundation include amputees, those with lasting injuries, mental problems or who become disabled or develop long-term illnesses while serving.

Mr Rollinson added: “You cannot see PTSD unlike other injuries and ailments you can have from service. The foundation helps put ex-servicemen who may suffer from PTSD back on the path to work in the golf industry.”

Mr Rollinson served with the Green Jackets in Northern Ireland in 1983 before being wounded, still suffering from his injuries both physically and mentally. He and his family still cope with his PTSD and his flashbacks.

Since taking up gold, Mr Rollinson has become a member with North Wilts and thanks everyone for the support they have shown him.
