TO CELEBRATE three years of sponsorship, Marlborough Golf Club Seniors held a special lunch was held to thank Dick Lovett BMW.

Steve Faulkner, general manager of Dick Lovett BMW, attended the lunch and the golf club to mark the third year of sponsoring the club’s Marlborough Senior’s Open, taking place on July 12.

David Ferris, chairman of the Marlborough Seniors, said: “We are delighted to have the continuing support of Dick Lovett BMW. Our open event has now become so popular that all 120 places were quickly taken up and no fewer than 35 different clubs will be represented on the day.

“This is a real tribute to Steve Faulkner and his team at Dick Lovett BMW. Their sponsorship has meant we are able to offer some of the best winners cash prizes in Wiltshire and surrounding counties.”

The Marlborough Seniors open has been running for over three years, but has since grown larger since receiving sponsorship from BMW.

Mr Faulkner said: “Marlborough Golf Club is one of the best clubs in Wiltshire. To judge by its popularity the Seniors Open goes from strength to strength. We are happy that our sponsorship has clearly been an important factor in its success.”

The golf club itself dates back to 1888, making it one of the oldest in the country, and has regular competitions and draws players from around to country.

Frank Jeffrey, 71, of East Sands, Burbage, secretary of the club, said: “We have players come to the open from all over, Lancaster, Peterborough, and other places across the country. We also hold what we call quadrilateral competitions with other clubs established at the same time, these are Royal Winchester, Salisbury and New Forrest.”

The Marlborough Seniors Open takes place on July 12 at the club in The Common, Marlborough.
