ST JOHN’S Academy in Marlborough is reassuring the community there is no cause for alarm after police visited this morning when a game was taken out of context.
Officers have confirmed they were on the site at 11.45am this morning but it was to ‘offer words of advice’ to a student as a precaution.
It is understood a handful of boys in Year 10 were passing notes to each other in a classroom.
Written on them were some ‘violent threats’, as part of the game, that have now been taken out of context.
A number of panicked parents posted on Facebook about seeing police on site which has prompted concern.
However a spokesman from St John’s said: “It is a perfectly normal day and there is nothing to worry about.
"It is a silly rumour that has been taken out of context and there is no cause for concern and we want to reassure parents.”
One parent posted on Facebook: "I'm sort of relieved to know that our children are on the ball with the threats to our society at present.
"It could have been genuine and at least the pupil who was concerned was not afraid to alert a teacher of their concerns."
