POLICE are appealing for the public's help in identifying two people they want to speak after an elderly woman's bank card was stolen as she shopped in Marlborough.

The incident happened in the Marlborough branch of Waitrose at around 1.30pm on Monday, December 21.

The woman, who is in her 80s, had her card taken while she leaving the store and it was then used to withdraw more than £1,000 in Swindon.

Police have now issued CCTV images of two people they would like to speak to in connection with the theft.

PC Steve Drage said: "This was a distressing incident for the woman and we would welcome any information on the suspects and their identities.

"If you recognise them or can help with our enquiries please contact me on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Police say they are not linking it to a similar incident in November in Waitrose, which saw an elderly couple have hundreds of pounds stolen from their bank account after they were watched typing in their PIN number in the supermarket, followed home and then burgled.
