A NEW vets’ surgery could be coming to Marlborough as a planning application has been submitted this week to convert a unit at the town’s business park.

Vets4Pets is proposing to turn unit three in Hertford Court, near Tesco in Salisbury Road, into a small animal practice and is already advertising jobs online.

It would include a cat and a dog ward, an operating theatre, walk-in kennel, pharmacy, consultant rooms and lab area.

The company is part of a national chain, founded in 2001 by Peter Watson, and is also opening a surgery in Swindon next month.

In the application it reads: “The proposed veterinary surgery will comprise two consulting rooms on the ground floor where general pet care advice is given, animals receive basic preventative medicine and treatments (such as worming or flea treatments), and small scale procedures such as spaying and X-raying are carried out.

“The facility will also include laboratory and pharmacy areas. On the mezzanine floor will be a further consulting room, staff training room, office, and cat ward.”
