THE A429 at Corston was blocked with queuing traffic in both directions because of a crash which led to one car catching on fire.
Two cars collided at about 6.40am near the Radnor Arms pub, with one going up in flames
Congestion was said to have stretched as far as the Hullavington Airfield junction and traffic had to be diverted.
A Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said nobody was trapped in the vehicles and a crew from Malmesbury dealt with the burning car.
A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said both the car drivers were injured and were taken to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, for treatment.
A woman suffered chest injuries while the male driver of the other car had a cut head.
Traffic conditions had returned to normal by about 11am.
