POLICE are not treating the fire in Marlborough, which a 33-year-old woman died in, as suspicious.
They have issued a statement to reassure members of the public that following their investigations at the flat in Angel Yard they do not believe the blaze yesterday is suspicious.
A spokesman said: “Crime Scene Investigators and Fire Investigators attended the scene last night and this morning to carry out a full investigation to establish the cause of the fire, and as a result of these investigations, officers are not treating the incident as suspicious.
“Her next of kin have been informed, but formal identification has not yet taken place. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”
The cordon at the scene has now been lifted.
Floral tributes are also being left near the address for the woman who has been named locally as Victoria Macdonald.
