FREE community wi-fi in Marlborough has been rolled out to extra parts of the town and several surrounding villages.

Residents, retailers and visitors to Marlborough High Street have been enjoying free internet access for more than a year and now people living in Ramsbury, Aldbourne, Avebury and Lockeridge will also be able to benefit too.

The free community wi-fi network enables anyone to gain free access for 20 minutes, or pay £10 to gain unlimited access on two devices for twelve months at any of the community wi-fi areas.

The initiative has been developed by the Marlborough Area Development Trust (MADT) and is being promoted under the brand of Visit Marlborough.

Bob Holman of the MADT, who has been the driving force behind the scheme, said: “Marlborough is steeped in history and heritage of which its community is very proud.

“However, as a local development trust we have recognised the requirement by people to stay connected - anytime, anywhere.

“We are delighted to have further rolled out the free community wi-fi for Marlborough, now anyone in central Marlborough and surrounding villages can be connected at just the click of a button and send that important email or check the latest score in the Rugby World Cup.”
