THE historic lychgate at the entrance to the churchyard at Ramsbury church has been restored to its former glory.
The lychgate was built in 1910 as a family memorial and it is a focal point in the village.
Sadly, one of the main beams had rotted and was endangering the structure so specialist repair work was needed and carried out by TRAC Structural Ltd of Bristol.
Michael Handford, chairman of the project, hopes the recent repair will enable the Lych-gate to survive as an asset of the village for another 100 years.
The building committee of the Ramsbury PCC has raised funds for the repairs including grants from the North Wessex Downs AONB Sustainable Development Fund, the Friends of Holy Cross, Aster Communities Community Development Fund, Ramsbury Parish Charities, Ramsbury Parish Council and the Marlborough Area Board of Wiltshire Council.
