A RECORD number of youngsters competed for the chance to be selected as royalty for this year's Pewsey Carnival on Saturday.
The budding entrants gathered at The Coopers Arms pub in the village, where there was excitement and anticipation in the air to see who would be victorious.
Last year's carnival royal family; queen Eleanor Smith, attendant Louise Banting, princess Hannah Parsons and flower girl Lilly Banting were on hand to crown their successors.
Nearly 20 juniors entered the junior section and Alishya Blake was crowded princess, flower girl was chosen as Ella Rudman-Bromley and Eben Wheatley is this year’s prince.
Following on from the contest, the evening continued with eight ladies entering the queen contest.
The queen for 2015 is Daisy Phythian and her attendants are Anna Jepson and Chelsea Weir.
One of the organisers said: “We were thrilled once again with the number of entrants. Pewsey Carnival are very proud to be keeping the old tradition of having a royal family to attend events and lead the carnival's illuminated procession on Saturday 19th September.”
The new carnival royalty will be attending events throughout the carnival fortnight, starting on Saturday, September 4.
