A BOOK sale will be held at Avebury this August in order to raise vital funds to improve visitor access to the Old Farmyard at the National Trust estate.

Locals are being asked to dust off the old novels in the attic, clear out their bookshelves, and tidy up their coffee tables for the cause.

Cathrien van Hak, house manager of Avebury Manor said: “Our last event in May was a huge success, raising over £1,100 towards the improvements and was very popular with people visiting Avebury especially to go to the book sale.

“We are hoping that our second book sale in August will bring us closer to our goal of improving access around Avebury for everyone."

The book sale will take place daily between August 8-23 in the education room behind the Great Barn at Avebury, 10.30am-5.00pm, and those who would like to donate books are asked to call 01672 539054.
